There are currently four major gaming platforms: mobile gaming, computer gaming, console gaming, and VR gaming. Mobile games are currently in the category of extremely popular games. Some of the most important mobile games are Call of Duty, Fortnite and Among Us. PC games have a higher level, and their audience is more hard-core. Some of the PC games I can mention are Witcher, Portal, Doom, Dota 2, Metal Gear Solid, and Apex. Two of the most popular console games are Assassin and Uncharted. VR games are a new generation of games that use 3D graphics. They are different from other games, and of course they do not have a special exclusive game.

To make a game, we have to consider 6 important parts, which form a game development team: game design; game art; game coding; music; test & statistics; and finally, game release & Labor market. In the following, I will talk in detail about the members of game development team.

Game designer

The game designer must pursue 6 goals. The first is the basic idea. The basic idea is that the designer should ask himself how this game differs from other games, what its purpose is, what its style is, and what experience it is supposed to give the player. The second case concerns game mechanics. The simplest things, like jumping, are the mechanics of the game. For example, in Super Mario, each of these points to a game mechanic when the game character jumps and hits the boxes, or when he eats mushrooms. The third thing a game designer needs to be skilled at is writing the game story. This is more difficult than writing a scenario for a movie, because it has to consider the characters, the environment, the mechanics, the gameplay and the music. Note that the game designer must put everything on paper. The document that the game designer prepares is called the Game Design Document (GDD). The fourth is systems design. Each game has a series of different systems. The fifth case concerns the design of the game level. At this stage, the designer must specify the levels of the game. The sixth and final item is to design the feel of the game. Music and graphics change the feel of the game, but there are other things that the player does not directly notice. For example, where the game is easy or hard, where the player gets frustrated, where he tries harder, and what the enemies look like. All of this shows that the game designer must have knowledge in almost every field, from physics to economics, mathematics, literature and history.

Game artist

The second person in the game development process is the game artist. At this point, the work of designers and programmers appears on the screen. A player can dislike or be interested in the game because of an art. There are two categories of art. Two-dimensional art and three-dimensional art. In two-dimensional art, the artist can design the characters in two ways. In the first method, known as pixel art, the artist paints frame by frame. In the second method, the artist draws a two-dimensional character, making it animated. In 3D art, the artist does 3D design and animation. The first part that the artist should pay attention to is the game environment. One of the main tasks of an artist is to design a game environment. The feeling we get from the game depends a lot on the game space. For example, most of the audience of Ghost of Tsushima game were attracted to it due to the attractive environment of the game. The second thing that the artist should pay attention to are the characters, obstacles and objects in the game. The artist must determine what the character will look like, how he will walk, and how he will be animated. Finally, he has to match these characters with the objects in the game. For example, to cross a small tunnel, we should not build a tall character, or for a short character, we should not put a tall obstacle. The third thing that the artist should pay attention to is the user interface (UI) and menu. For example, the number of coins is shown in the game interface. The fourth is the angle of the camera, the light and the color, and the last is artistic direction. In general, the three things that are extremely important in the game are shape, color and space. Software that can be used for game art include Photoshop, Maya, 3D Max, Sketch and Blender.

Game programmer

The main task of the programmer is to choose the game engine, and get acquainted with the game development environment. Two popular game engines are Unity and Unreal. Game programming is object-oriented programming and you can get help from different programming languages, such as Java, C, C ++, C #, Python, and JavaScript. Of all these, C # and Java are the most commonly used, along with the Unity game engine. The programmer should be familiar with artificial intelligence, game physics, sound and music technology, scripts, gameplay coding, network communications, servers, gaming tools, and prototyping.

Game composer

The composer can play the instrument, record his own voice, and mix them into the software. Sound effects are sounds that are emitted during various reactions, such as when jumping or hitting an obstacle. As a composer, you should be familiar with some softwares such as Ableton and FL Studio.

Game tester and statistician

Before the game is released, there are many bugs that the developers do not pay attention to. In the test section, the experts play the game and report bugs. The statistician can also provide useful information to developers. For example, what percentage of players leave the game. For statistics, sometimes we need a questionnaire about the game and game genres.

Game Publishing

The most important part of the game is the game release part. Publishing is done when the game project is practically finished and the game is ready to be in the hands of the customer. You can publish mobile games on Google Play or App Store. Two important sites for releasing PC games are Steam and GOG.
