Advanced Navigation's #Subsonus #USBL positioning system has been instrumental in assisting DOF Subsea's small-scale #ROV operations. This cutting-edge technology has provided accurate and reliable underwater positioning for their subsea operations. Subsonus provided a viable solution that eliminated previous complexities and cost for deploying multibeam acoustic navigation."We expect USBL positioning tolerances at this depth to be around 0.4m. One of the main problems we have encountered previously on this project was noise associated with working in such shallow water. This threw conventional USBL systems positions out by up to 15m."-Gavin Wallace, Project Surveyor, DOF Subsea Australia"Subsonus was not only a new technology that we wanted to try, but it is the only USBL that we could find to fit onto an ROV of this size. In this case, smaller is definitely better for the outcomes we wanted to achieve"- Giovanni De Vita, Survey and Geomatics Lead, DOF Subsea AustraliaRead the full case studyhttps://lnkd.in/gQzXNffx...#UnderWaterPositioning #Innovation"

ROV Technology and DevelopmentAs the capability of ROV has increased, the range of application in which they are used has expanded greatly. Tasks that previously could only be undertaken by divers can now be handled more safely and cost effectively by ROV. The development of oil and gas equipment specifically designed for ROV intervention. At water depths of over 200m it becomes impossible to use direct human intervention option that ROVs are used. The ROV is a mobile tool which at its most basic consists of a camera and a two way communications mechanism that allows the operator to control the vehicle. The vehicle is likely other tools, also remotely operated which can be used to perform simple subsea operations subsea. ROV can be classified to a 3 main types, the small observation class or eyeball, the work class ROV and the tracked vehicle or plough. Work class ROV (WROV) is the most widely used in intervention operations. . WROVs can operate at depths of up to 3500 m below sea surface. They are much larger than the observation vehicles. They are more powerful ranging from 50 โ 250 HP, and can carry a greater range of equipment. Figure below shows an example of ROV's system #subsea #subseaengineering #subseacables #offshore #offshorelife #deepwater #offshoreenergy #offshoreoilandgas #offshoreindustry #offshoreconstruction #offshoreservices #offshoreengineering #offshoreoperations

There is good and bad in all. Sometimes this also applies to your ROV power source. ๐The trade-offs to consider are between price, power availability, and quality. Our bet is that youโre still going to prioritize reliability and safety. So, what to look out for to avoid a bad power source? โก- Rapid Capacity Loss- Inconsistent Performance- Short Operating Time- Overheating- Swelling or Leaking- Correct Depth RatingThis might be hard to tell by sight but you can ask questions during the ROV demo as part of your buying process. After that, taking proper care and regularly checking your ROV performance. โกMore on that here: https://lnkd.in/gmtY9aKa#marinetechnology #energy #ROVs #oceantech

Although you may be used to seeing #ROVHercules exploring the #ocean depths, our work with Ocean Networks Canada during the NA151 expedition looks a little different. This work primarily focuses on #engineering tasks ranging from cleaning deployed equipment, recovering data from sensors, installing new hardware and instruments, and helping with the delicate job of laying #underwatercables that connect the network to shore. In this video, take a closer look at the fascinating world of #ROVoperations in this unique and challenging environment. https://lnkd.in/edysMSNs
