What is the ONE THING that is most important? - Eagle Mountain International Church (2024)

Together, all who attend EMIC are on a very important mission. Our mission is to “take a group of people and disciple them intensely in The WORD of God, teach them an uncommon faith, and help them stand victoriously in life.” That mission is who we are, what we do and what we preach.

An important part of that mission is to teach others the laws that govern supernatural prosperity and increase. God’s WORD clearly reveals it is His will for us to prosper. Third John 2 (New King James Version) tells us, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” We find in Deuteronomy 8:18 that God gives us the power to get wealth. When you tithe, expect heaven to pour out THE BLESSING. When you sow, expect the hundredfold return harvest.

Thank you for your participation and always bringing your supply of the spirit to our EMIC services and events! You are loved and appreciated! We declare over you that your every bill is paid, every debt obliterated, and you have an overwhelming surplus to do everything God has called you to do!

A few years ago, Brother Copeland spoke about the extreme importance of God’s WORD. He said, “There needs to be a resurgence of the importance and reverence for the written WORD of God. Rekindle and redevelop its preciousness in your life. Rekindle your respect for it. However deep your respect for this Book goes is how deep His presence can function.” He also said, “This Book is just as much a manifestation of God in the earth as the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.” Those statements thrill my heart!

Our first core value deals directly with giving God’s WORD first place and making it final authority. His comments, however, added much greater weight and dimension to the assignment. God’s WORD is more important than anything else in our lives. Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every WORD that proceeds from the mouth of God.” It is the ONE THING that is of absolute necessity to all our lives.

Jesus spoke about this in Luke 10:38-42. We find Jesus, His disciples and many of those who followed Him at Mary and Martha’s house. Martha was in the kitchen trying to fix dinner for this crowd. On top of that, she was upset with Mary for not helping. What exactly was Mary doing? Verse 39 says, “And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His WORD.” Mary was doing exactly what she needed to do. She was giving The WORD of God first place in her life. She knew how important it was to feed on God’s WORD. I am sure she was responding the same way the disciples did on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24:32 (NKJV): “And they said to one another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?’”

In Chapter 10:40, Martha was so upset that she angrily spoke to Mary through Jesus. For a moment, she forgot exactly who she was talking to! In verse 40, Martha said, “LORD, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me!” (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition). The Greek says, “Command her to help me!”

Verses 41-42 in the NKJV tells us: “Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But ONE THING is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.’”

What was that ONE THING He was talking about? Mary chose to give God’s WORD first place and make it final authority. The English Standard Version says, “one thing is necessary.” And The Message says, “One thing only is essential.” There is ONE THING that is needed, necessary and essential to all our lives. What is it? The WORD of God!

Make your quality decision today to give God’s WORD first place and final authority. Give The WORD first place by reading your daily chapters. Give The WORD first place by approaching every situation asking, “What does The WORD say about this?” Give The WORD first place by believing, speaking and acting on it. Make The WORD final authority. “I know the doctors are saying ‘this’—but The WORD of God says, ‘By His stripes, I am healed!’”

God’s WORD is the ONE THING we need to walk in victory. Making God’s WORD first place and final authority is to our advantage. The AMPC says, “Mary has chosen the good portion [that which is to her advantage], which shall not be taken away from her.”

In 1967, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland made a quality decision about giving God’s WORD first place in their lives. After all these years, you can see what that decision has produced. God’s WORD has made the difference. It has been their advantage.

Pray this prayer out loud with me: “LORD, I choose to give Your WORD first place and make it final authority. It is the ONE THING that is essential to my stand of faith. Whatever I see in Your WORD, and I understand what You are telling me, I will adopt that into my own lifestyle immediately. Your WORD is the answer, and it is final authority in my life. It is the first WORD and the last WORD concerning every issue. I will obey whatever Your WORD tells me to do. I rekindle my deep respect and reverence with the precious, written WORD of God.”

Giving God’s WORD first place,

Pastor George
